Our criminal defence lawyers are astute, supportive and highly sophisticated, particularly known for their skills in providing strategic, sensible and practical criminal law advice and for our ability to keep potentially high profile cases out of the public eye.

Purpose of job

This is a speculative advert- we are always looking for outstanding practitioners to join our team and work closely with the fee-earners and partners of this busy department in the provision of advice and litigation assistance to the firm’s clients, in particular in the areas of financial regulatory and criminal investigations.

Responsibilities

Specific duties:

To work, as part of a team, advising the firm’s clients on criminal law matters to include; advising clients and companies during the investigation stages and, where relevant, post-charge in respect of the following areas of law:

  • Serious fraud and business crime
  • Corruption and bribery
  • General crime and police station advice
  • Search and seizure
  • Restraint and confiscation
  • Extradition
  • International mutual legal assistance
  • Cartels
  • Financial services regulatory and criminal investigations including fitness to practice, market abuse, insider dealing and fraud
  • Dealing with the Serious Fraud Office (SFO), Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), the Competitions and Markets Authority (CMA), HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), the police and Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and other national and international regulatory and enforcement agencies
  • International investigations and prosecutions.
