Due to the continued growth of Shoosmiths, with the turnover growth of 8% 2016-2017 and two new offices opened in Leeds & Belfast last year, we are looking to add an experienced Credit Controller to our current team of four. You will take responsibility for one or more ledgers and chase up payment of all outstanding bills, with particular attention to outstanding debt that exceeds agreed payment terms. As Shoosmiths works with a breadth of clients (SMEs up to FTSE 100) and private individuals, you will be building rapport with a breadth of individuals on a day-to-day basis.
In light of this, you will be confident in dealing with clients on the telephone and by e-mail, with the ability to demonstrate effective methods in obtaining prompt payment from our clients.
Furthermore, you will also be required to liaise on a regular basis with legal advisers and partners, particularly during circumstances where the client has queried the bill or requires further information before making payment. You will also deal with general credit control enquiries such as copy invoices, statements, producing letters where appropriate, using Word based templates.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Credit Controller (with a minimum of 5 years' experience) who is seeking their next challenge - you are not required to have prior experience within a Law Firm setting, however previous experience in professional services or financial services would be beneficial. Previous experience of using SAP would also be beneficial.
Benefits package
Shoosmiths has an outstanding benefits package; we believe that all staff should be rewarded for their commitment to the continued success of the firm. These can include:
- A pension scheme with employer contributions of up to 5.5%

- Up to 23 paid working days holiday per annum with the option to buy up to 8 additional days. You can choose to 'flex' twice a year - January and July
- 'Happy Birthday!' - have a free day off to celebrate and a £50 voucher to spend! (We won't take it from your annual entitlement)
- Childcare vouchers which are not subject to tax or NI
- Interest free season ticket loans
- Staff introduction bonus scheme
- Corporate discounts on a wide variety of products and services
- Discounted conveyancing and legal advice, for instance for wills and family trusts
The application process
We will aim to respond to you within 3-4 working days following your application. If successful, you will be contacted by a member of our recruitment team for an informal telephone discussion. There will be two interview stages which will be held at our Northampton office.
