The role

Shoosmiths implemented the first instance of the SAP legal template at the end of 2014 and have since been expanding the functionality of the new practice management system across the firm.  

As a SAP FI/CO Business Analyst, you will play an essential role in the continued support and development within the FI/CO area. The successful candidate will be responsible for design, implementation, integration and support of the SAP FI/CO module in line with SAP’s legal template. The role will require extensive interaction with the business to ensure the system is fit for purpose and meeting business requirements. 

Main responsibilities
  • To work closely with the business to analyse and understand their processes and requirements, whilst developing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • To define and agree deliverables, and timelines to ensure they are fit for purpose in line with the full project plan.  
  • To work with the project team to produce estimates for the work required and communicate this effectively to ensure good expectation management.
  • To monitor and motivate the project team while aligning to project plans at all stages of a project.
  • To produce documentation, functional specifications, training and testing scripts, configuration documents, risk and issue logs and any other necessary project documentation.
  • To ensure all project communications, both written and verbal, are managed and delivered in a timely manner.
  • To manage any proposed changes or enhancements to agreed scope.
  • Work effectively with the whole project team to ensure a fully integrated system is delivered.
  • Mentor new members of the team who will be cross trained from other applications.
  •  To, as required, manage suppliers and contractors to ensure targets and deliverables are met.
  • Minimise the firm’s exposure to risk.
  • To ensure projects meet quality standards.  
  • Ensure that you understand and follow the required IS Policy, Procedures and guidelines provided by the IS Department.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with rest of the IS department.
  • Assist other areas of the IS department as and when required.
  • Be aware of current Health and Safety requirements and co-operate with Facilities Management.
Skills and qualifications

Role-specific knowledge, expertise and experience

Essential

  • At least 3 full life cycles from Blueprint to Go Live
  • 5 years minimum SAP FI/CO experience
  • Configuration and support experience
  • Strong communication skills as this role will require stakeholder management

 

Preferred

  • Experience of Project Systems (desirable)
  • Exposure to HANA upgrade(desirable)
  • BW and or SAP ABAP (advantageous)
  • Experience in a law firm, professional services firm or other service sector industry (not essential)
  • Prince 2/ASAP qualified
  • Finance qualification (ACA, ACMA, AAT, ACCA, etc.) 

Additional details

Travel to other Shoosmiths offices will be necessary on occasions.

It is essential that the SAP FI/CO Business Analyst can work flexible or extended hours to complete some tasks outside of core business hours of 08:00 to 18:00.

Due to the nature of the work undertaken, confirmation of employment will be subject to a variety of checks which will be carried out once an offer of employment is accepted.  These checks will include employment references covering the last 5 years, proof of ID, proof of address covering the last 5 years, Personnel Vetting credit search (which will only highlight insolvency or County Court Judgments - should any adverse data show on the Personnel Vetting search then any offer of employment made will be withdrawn).Terrorism Check (against data supplied by the Bank of England) and a DBS check previously known as a Criminal Records check.
