An innovative practice and the first top 100 law firm to achieve “Gold Standard” Investors in People, our values and culture are not just words on our website but are the heartbeat of the firm. The lack of barriers between departments, a real lack of hierarchy, zero tolerance for arrogance and pomposity makes Shoosmiths a fantastic place to work.

The team

Enthusiastic and ambitious individuals sought to join an exciting, friendly and rapidly expanding team within an award winning national law firm.

The role

We are looking for proven good - excellent technical skills in the completion of Stamp Duty Land Tax Returns and Land Registry applications is essential for all candidates (although targeted training to deal with any small knowledge gaps in role will be provided as required and knowledge of Welsh Land Transaction Tax whilst preferable, is not essential).

The ideal candidate for this role is likely to be a Solicitor, legal exec, tax adviser or accountant with a minimum of 3 years Post Qualification Experience (or equivalent qualification / experience).  A strong grounding in real estate transactions and / or in real estate tax law would be preferable but not essential..  It is likely that this role will involve the formal supervision of other members of the team.  The successful candidate will have a thorough and wide ranging understanding of the application of SDLT rules to most ‘business as usual’ transactions in landlord and tenant, commercial and residential development, overage etc. Training on technical application of the SDLT rules to any given scenario is not expected as this function will be supported by the firm’s internal tax team.
