The firm

A leading UK law firm with a network of offices from the South Coast to Scotland, working together as one national team. An innovative practice and the first top 100 law firm to achieve “Gold Standard” Investors in People, our values and culture are not just words on our website but are the heartbeat of the firm. The lack of barriers between departments, a real lack of hierarchy, zero tolerance for arrogance and pomposity makes Shoosmiths a fantastic place to work.

The team

Our National Commercial Group is going from strength to strength. Our bold and ambitious plan is to be recognised as the pre-eminent Commercial Group in the UK within the next 5 years.

We’re already well on that journey, currently having an excellent team of over 70 lawyers focused on six key service lines:

•             Technology, Media & Telecoms
•             Commercial Contracts
•             Intellectual Property
•             Financial Services
•             Privacy & Data
•             Capital Projects & Infrastructure

We are ranked in the top tier of Legal 500 for most of our practice areas, although our intention is to have top rankings across the board.

The role

Our Milton Keynes Commercial team is enjoying an exciting period of growth. With a loyal and ever increasing “blue chip” client base we are looking for a further general commercial or technology solicitor to join our friendly and innovative team.

The team is highly supportive on a day to day basis and each individual’s career progression is valued providing an enjoyable experience for everyone. On offer is the full spectrum of high quality work - from advising on large multinational IT and business process outsourcing projects to more routine “business as usual” commercial contracts. Much of the work that the team undertakes is for major automotive manufacturers, well known online and high street retailers and FTSE 250 businesses.

Skills and qualifications

The ideal candidate will demonstrate first-rate commercial experience, outstanding client service, the ability to take responsibility and a track record of being involved in business development initiatives. We would consider applications from candidates who would like to work on a part time basis.

Equal opportunities

Shoosmiths is a committed Equal Opportunities employer promoting equality of opportunity. This means that everyone who either applies to or works for the firm is treated equally, whatever their gender, age, ethnic origin, nationality, marital status, disability, sexual orientation or religious beliefs.
