The firm

A leading UK law firm with a network of offices from the South Coast to Scotland, working together as one national team. An innovative practice and the first top 100 law firm to achieve “Gold Standard” Investors in People, our values and culture are not just words on our website but are the heartbeat of the firm. The lack of barriers between departments, a real lack of hierarchy, zero tolerance for arrogance and pomposity makes Shoosmiths a fantastic place to work.

The team

Our award winning national Corporate team, which in 2016 topped the Experian MarketIQ (Corpfin) UK & Ireland M&A league table to become the UK’s leading legal adviser by deal volume, is led by a team of partners widely regarded as leaders in their field and who are regularly recommended by clients for their reputation, personalities and outstanding expertise.

We advise companies, management teams, investors and debt providers through the business life cycle, from start-up and first round finance through M&A, management transactions, venture and development funding, restructuring, capital reductions, private equity funding and exits.

The role

Our Southampton team is looking to further strengthen its practice with an additional corporate transactional solicitor or associate. The work would cover all aspects of corporate finance including M&A, private equity, venture capital, capital markets, joint ventures and re-organisations. We pride ourselves in providing the best client experience therefore the ideal candidate would carry out high quality work and have a good level of client contact.

To be up for the challenge you must have a good grounding in quality corporate transactional work and be keen to be involved in business development. The successful candidate will have trained with a reputable firm and have excellent experience assisting on a wide variety of corporate transactions.

Equal opportunities

Shoosmiths is a committed Equal Opportunities employer promoting equality of opportunity. This means that everyone who either applies to or works for the firm is treated equally, whatever their gender, age, ethnic origin, nationality, marital status, disability, sexual orientation or religious beliefs.
