The role

Now we need an additional strong business research professional.

Working as part of a high performing and collaborative business development team, your role will be to understand the core strategic goals of the business, and then provide research and critical business insights in relation to our clients, intermediates and any specific sectors identified within the business development strategic objectives.

The role can be based in the firm’s fully agile Reading, Solent, Milton Keynes, Nottingham, Manchester, Leeds or Birminghamoffice locations, and travel to other Shoosmiths offices will be required.

 

Main responsibilities
  • Undertake research and assist with the delivery of commercially orientated client and market insight to strengthen the firm’s pitches, the client relationship programme and any wider business development activities
  • Preparing reports and briefings to support a wide range of internal and external requirements
  • Undertaking competitor analysis and identifying practice growth opportunities and market trends
  • Supporting business development activities across key sector and practice areas through research and thought leadership campaigns
  • Working with a variety of stakeholders across the firm to include business development team and knowledge management team
  • Utilising effective communication channels e.g. the Shoosmiths website, e-bulletins, social media and industry networks. 
Skills and qualifications
  • Ability to capture, summarise and prioritise information from a variety of sources in to simple, meaningful reports and/ or insights
  • Good desktop publishing skills; particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience of working with Linex/Vable and/or MarketiQ would be beneficial
  • Experience in spreadsheet manipulation and report preparation
  • Flexibility to work on a variety of tasks and manage own responsibilities in a fast paced and demanding environment
  • High standards of written and verbal communication are essential
  • Team player with excellent organisational and time management skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines

Experience in B2B research and working for a professional services firm is desirable.
