The team

The main aim of our Learning and Development Team is to provide Shoosmiths' employees with the skills and knowledge to ensure that Shoosmiths continues on its journey to become a UK law firm most valued by its clients, people and communities.

Our L&D Team is based at the Lakes in Northampton although members of the team frequently travel to other offices to provide hands on support and ensure a quality training programme is maintained.

The role

This role is to deliver the L&D strategy as set by the Head of Learning and Development and to act as a business partner with Human Resource Managers and stakeholders within Shoosmiths.

It is a national role with frequent travel. The individual will work alongside existing L&D Managers as well as the Business Systems team and Learning Content management Team.

Main responsibilities
  • To conduct effective TNA’s informing L&D strategy and practice
  • To design L&D workshops particularly in the fields of management and leadership
  • To deliver skills based training in a complex environment
  • To coach and support employees as individuals or as part of a team
  • To promote Shoosmiths brand and culture at every opportunity
Skills and qualifications

The candidate must be

  • A self-starter who can work autonomously and in an environment of ambiguity
  • Professional in their appearance and conduct
  • Excellent when communicating both verbally and in the written format
  • Excellent when presenting in front of large and complex audiences
  • A rigorous L&D professional who is prepared to challenge the status quo
  • Able to persuade and influence a senior stakeholder group

Experience

The ideal candidate will have gained experience working within a fast paced environment which has allowed them to develop excellent operational L&D skills as well as gaining an excellent understanding of how a business works within its industry and regulatory framework. They will have the confidence to work with senior stakeholders and be able to articulate their views clearly and with passion.

Education and Professional Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level
  • CIPD qualifications desirable
  • Level A and B Psychometric profiling preferrable (or similar)
  • Coaching qualification
