The team

Our Private Client Practice Group offers excellent service and legal advice and are commited to delivering an amazing client experience for companies in the UK. Today we call our Private Client offering Shoosmiths Access Legal because that's precisely what it does. It gives our private clients access to the law through friendly, approachable people who know that understanding individual need is the first step to making the law work.

Our Clinical Negligence team advises private clients on complaints and claims involving any type of medical negligence.

The role

We have a vacancy for a Paralegal to run a busy case load of Medical Negligence claims. You will be supervised by a Senior Solicitor but expected to run your own case load on a day to day basis.

Main responsibilities

The successful candidate’s tasks when running their case load will include:

  • Providing a comprehensive case progression service including managing litigation timetables, deadlines, medical reports, appointments etc.;
  • Evidence gathering to include medical reports, statements, other documentary evidence and experts’ reports;
  • Ensuring that all work and the collected evidence is properly marshalled and recorded on the files;
  • Taking witness statements as required;
  • Researching and preparation of legal papers;
  • Providing excellent client care.
Skills and qualifications

Applicants will ideally have their LPC or ILEX and relevant medical negligence litigation experience.

A good telephone manner and the ability to work in a team environment is essential. You should have excellent organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines with good attention to detail. You should also have good IT skills
