The firm

A leading UK law firm with a network of offices from the South Coast to Scotland, working together as one national team. An innovative practice and the first top 100 law firm to achieve “Gold Standard” Investors in People, our values and culture are not just words on our website but are the heartbeat of the firm. The lack of barriers between departments, a real lack of hierarchy, zero tolerance for arrogance and pomposity makes Shoosmiths a fantastic place to work.

The team

Our litigation and dispute resolution teams have highly skilled specialists with the expertise to solve whatever contentious problem you are facing. We have over 260 litigation legal advisers based across the UK.

We cover a broad range of specialisms including commercial litigation, contract disputes, fraud, intellectual property, professional negligence, public procurement challenges, construction and engineering, regulatory, insurance, IT, real estate and lending and banking disputes

The role

Following recent high profile hires and increased client instructions an opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Litigation Associate to join us in the Thames Valley office.

The team is well known for the responsibility, client contact and freedom it gives to its legal advisers. The team has consistently promoted lawyers year on year. The Dispute Resolution and Compliance group is based across several locations but works nationally as one, with support required cross office and practice group.

Our preferred candidate will be an ambitious and bright general commercial litigator with training from a recognised practice.  This role would suit an existing associate looking for greater responsibility or a solicitor looking for the next step up in their career.  The ideal candidate and will be comfortable with running their cases independently and some knowledge of contentious public procurement is desirable but not essential.

Equal opportunities

Shoosmiths is a committed Equal Opportunities employer promoting equality of opportunity. This means that everyone who either applies to or works for the firm is treated equally, whatever their gender, age, ethnic origin, nationality, marital status, disability, sexual orientation or religious beliefs.
