The role

Shoosmiths are looking for a Recruitment Specialist to join our award-winning recruitment team, who will be tasked with finding the very best talent for legal and head office roles across the firm. This is an exciting time to be joining a growing organisation that now employs over 1,600 people across 12 locations in the UK and has been named 'Best Employer' for 13 Consecutive Years (Legal week).

No two days will be the same and you will be finding the best talent for a variety of departments and locations. You will have the opportunity to partner and work with stakeholders across the firm, learning about the different functions at Shoosmiths to help you engage with prospective candidates.

We are looking for someone who wants to make a real impact through attracting talent that will ultimately help achieve Shoosmiths' vision of being the number 1 National UK Law Firm famous for its client experience. 

Main responsibilities
  • Manage the full recruitment 'end to end' lifecycle of legal requisitions. 
  • Creation of recruiting strategies, job descriptions and advertisements and conduct regular update meetings with hiring managers.
  • To determine appropriate direct sourcing methods for open vacancies including advertising, utilising talent pools and head-hunting.
  • Review applications and conduct screening interviews for vacancies in line with agreed SLA's.
  • Offer management
  • To provide a quality recruitment service to hiring managers, supporting the delivery of an effective, efficient and innovative recruitment service.
  • Building networks to develop talent pools of passive candidates in advance of needs, and maintain regular contact with possible candidates, particularly including the use of social media.
  • To promote internal employee referral networks and internal mobility.
  • Support the development of Shoosmiths employer brand and position in the local market as an 'employer of choice'.
  • Research and recommend new sources for active and passive candidate sourcing.
  • Producing a variety of reports to assess job board effectiveness, agency performance, time-to-hire, etc.
  • Continuously evaluating and updating the selection methods utilized across the firm.
  • Maintaining and building the relationships with recruitment agencies and supporting the wider team PSL reviews and agency meetings.

This role may on occasion require flexible working hours, and travel throughout the UK.

Skills and qualifications
  • A confident candidate sourcing expert who is adept in both search and contingent methods
  • Previous interview experience.
  • Proven experience to effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse range of people and job functions.
  • In addition to being organised and analytical, we require strong business judgement and negotiation skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; time management skills, detail oriented, and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge and interest in social media platforms e.g. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn.
  • Expectation of complete confidentiality on all business matters.
  • The ability to work as part of a team, but also able to be self-motivated and able to work on own initiative.
  • Previous legal or professional services sector experience and an existing network in the legal / recruitment sector would be advantageous.
