The role

Providing comprehensive support to the Manchester Business Advisory Division Commercial Group: IP and Creative Industries Team consisting of two partners, one associate, one solicitor and one trademark attorney, maintaining high standards at all times.

Main responsibilities
  • Extensive diary management to ensure good use of the legal advisors’ time ensuring that all commitments reflect priorities and that planning time is scheduled appropriately;
  • Liaising with clients and contacts on a daily basis (scheduling meetings, lunches, event invitations, acting as a first point of contact: answering general queries);
  • Organising events and conferences (both within the UK and overseas) and providing assistance at events;  
  • Booking and arranging travel, visas, transport and accommodation both within the UK and overseas;
  • Opening files and updating InterAction (in-house database system) ensuring that this is kept up to date with new client and contact details on a regular basis; 
  • E-filing to ensure easy access to critical information;
  • Completion of monthly invoicing including the management of foreign agent fees;
  • Completion of monthly expenses reports;
  • Credit management: to ensure monthly cash collection targets are reached; 
  • Producing financial reports, documents and presentations: ensuring that documentation is produced to the highest standard and conforms with the firm’s house style;   
  • Dealing with incoming emails and post, often corresponding on behalf of the legal advisor; and
  • Carrying out trademark searches.
