The role

Reporting to the Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will assist with support, deployment and management of the firm’s technical infrastructure including server, storage and core infrastructure applications / services.

You will be part of team responsible for support, maintenance, security and monitoring of the infrastructure within the data centres and multi-site IT environment. This is a key role to ensure the performance, reliability and security of the technical infrastructure meets the requirements of its user base.

The Infrastructure Engineer will be required to travel to other Shoosmiths offices as and when required.

Main responsibilities
  • Day to day management of the firm’s technical hardware infrastructure.
  • Day to day management of the core firm’s infrastructure applications and services.
  • Day to day management of the security of all technical infrastructure services including all client and server.
  • Advise on possible technical infrastructure architectures and technologies improvements.
  • Ensure all technical and systems documentation is kept up to date and complies with Shoosmiths quality standard.
  • Participate in Infrastructure projects as and when required.
  • Participate / contribute to BCP test exercises.
  • Participate in an out of hours 24x7 on call rota (currently 1 week in every 5 weeks as it stands)
  • To be lead technical contact for specified systems, assuming responsibility for the control and development of these systems.
Skills and qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years professional experience in a server development and support role, including experience of troubleshooting and supporting server and storage infrastructures.

Essential

  • In depth knowledge of the Microsoft Technical stack, in particular but not limited to; Exchange, SharePoint, Hyper-V, SQL Server, Lync, SCCM
  • Experience in the configuration and administration of a HDS HUS-VM Storage array or similar technologies.
  • Proven experience with current and emerging Information system technologies; including SAN, NAS, backup and recovery and infrastructure management.
  • Previous project experience including infrastructure implementation and development.
  • Proven experience of managing enterprise hardware estates.
  • Proven experience in deploying and testing disaster recovery solutions/scenarios.
  • Proven experience of implementing and managing Thin Client technologies.
  • Proven experience of designing, managing and supporting virtualisation technologies.
  • Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical users.

In addition, you may have experience in one of the following roles: Server Support, Infrastructure Specialist, Systems Engineer, Infrastructure & Network Support, Infrastructure Server Engineer.

Background checks
