The firm

A leading UK law firm with a network of offices from the South Coast to Scotland, working together as one national team. An innovative practice and the first top 100 law firm to achieve “Gold Standard” Investors in People, our values and culture are not just words on our website but are the heartbeat of the firm. The lack of barriers between departments, a real lack of hierarchy, zero tolerance for arrogance and pomposity makes Shoosmiths a fantastic place to work.

The team

Our national banking and finance team advises clients on a range of financing transactions across a wide variety of sectors, often with a multi-jurisdictional element. Acting for borrowers, lenders and investors means we have a practical understanding of the needs of all parties to a financing transaction. Our expertise extends to corporate lending, acquisition finance, asset finance, real estate finance (both investment and development), project finance, marine finance and invoice discounting both on a bilateral and a syndicatable basis. We work closely with some of the UK's major banks and financial institutions, and have approved panel solicitor status with many of them. We manage transactions from start to finish, ensuring a smooth and cohesive process, enabling clients to continue to focus on building their relationships and running their businesses.

Our excellent team is going from strength to strength, as showcased by the recent additions of Nick Iliff to our Birmingham team and Alexandra Triptree to our Reading team, which has bolstered our project, real estate finance and acquisition finance practice. We are looking to compliment this with the addition of a Senior Associate or Partner into our London team.

The role

We have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Associate or Junior Partner to join our London practice and be instrumental in its growth and development.

Working closely with our national Banking team and our London Corporate team, we would expect you to be able to lead and supervise on a range of work including but not limited to; corporate lending, leverage finance, acquisition finance and real estate finance.

You will have an established track record advising borrowers, lender and investors on the full transaction lifecycle and you will also be committed to supporting our team growth by leading and facilitating a variety of business development initiatives.

Equal opportunities

Shoosmiths is a committed Equal Opportunities employer promoting equality of opportunity. This means that everyone who either applies to or works for the firm is treated equally, whatever their gender, age, ethnic origin, nationality, marital status, disability, sexual orientation or religious beliefs.
