The firm

A leading UK law firm with a network of offices from the South Coast to Scotland, working together as one national team. An innovative practice and the first top 100 law firm to achieve “Gold Standard” Investors in People, our values and culture are not just words on our website but are the heartbeat of the firm. The lack of barriers between departments, a real lack of hierarchy, zero tolerance for arrogance and pomposity makes Shoosmiths a fantastic place to work.

The team

Our award winning national corporate team, which has been ranked in the top four firms for deal volume in the UK for the past four years by Experian MarketIQ's M&A Review, is led by a team of partners widely regarded as leaders in their field who are regularly recommended by clients for their reputation, personalities and outstanding expertise.

We advise companies, management teams, investors and debt providers through the business life cycle, from start-up and first round finance through M&A, management transactions, venture and development funding, restructuring, capital reductions, private equity funding and exits.

Our Belfast office opened in 2016 and we now have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Associate or Partner to join our established and growing office. Our corporate team has a presence in most of our English and Scottish offices and we are looking to build on this national success in our Belfast office. Corporate is a clear area of growth for the firm and as part of this we are looking to establish a strong presence in Belfast to further compliment and develop our national network.

The role

We have an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Partner to join our Belfast practice and be instrumental in its growth and development. Ideally you will have some portable following and a strong network of local connections in Belfast.

Alternatively, you may be an ambitious Senior Associate who already has a strong client base and network and is keen to take the next step in their career, with the support of our national practice.

Working closely alongside the national corporate team, and our real estate partners already situated in Belfast, we would expect you to be able to lead and supervise on a range of corporate finance work including M&A, joint ventures and reorganisations and investment and shareholder documentation. You will also have the drive and ambition to develop our Belfast-based corporate team and be committed to supporting our growth by leading and facilitating a variety of business development initiatives.

Equal opportunities

Shoosmiths is a committed Equal Opportunities employer promoting equality of opportunity. This means that everyone who either applies to or works for the firm is treated equally, whatever their gender, age, ethnic origin, nationality, marital status, disability, sexual orientation or religious beliefs.
