An innovative practice and the first top 100 law firm to achieve “Gold Standard” Investors in People, our values and culture are not just words on our website but are the heartbeat of the firm. The lack of barriers between departments, a real lack of hierarchy, zero tolerance for arrogance and pomposity makes Shoosmiths a fantastic place to work.

The team

Our team of skilled national insolvency and restructuring lawyers has a broad range of experience across the full spectrum of insolvency and restructuring, including property issues, with particular emphasis on supporting insolvency practitioners, banks and asset based lenders. We provide advice to company directors and businesses operating with financial difficulties, providing bespoke and innovative solutions. We recognise that in insolvency scenarios our clients will need urgent practical advice, which is why we pride ourselves on our fast response times, offering constructive, commercial and clear advice in a straightforward manner, to provide clients with solutions tailored to their objectives.

As well as specialising in non-contentious insolvency issues, we can also help with insolvency litigation, acting for insolvency practitioners and creditors in recovering funds through the use of corporate and insolvency legislation.

Our national team is very highly regarded, our head of restructuring, James Keates has become well known as a leading “go to” lawyer for advice on CVAs, particularly in the retail sector, having advised a number of retailers on CVAs over the last 12 months, regularly acting for household name retail clients.

The role

Due to growth within the team we are looking for an additional Associate to join our Corporate Restructuring and Advisory team in Birmingham.  The ideal candidate will be confident advising banks, insolvency practitioners, private equity holders and asset based lenders on a variety of matters arising from distressed lending, corporate recovery and insolvency.
