The team

The Business Development & Marketing team takes much care of the firm’s external reputation, employing a number of tools to optimise our profile in the market.  Growing profitable income from clients and targets is the key aim of the national Business Development team, and they do this in two main ways, by:

  • supporting Relationships (with existing Clients, Targets and Intermediaries)
  • developing a strong brand, profile and Reputation for Shoosmiths in the UK market and overseas.
The role

This exciting role is for a national law firm which needs a design assistant/artworker to work as part of a business development team.

The role will work under the supervision of the firm's national brand manager to create well designed communications to help the firm differentiate itself with clients and in the wider market.

Design work will range from internal branded documents, event invitations, advertisements, electronic mailing templates, brochures and promotional materials. The firm has a strong visual brand and clear brand values and aims to reflect these in all of its external communications.

This role demands a strong ability to artwork from branded templates, an element of creativity and a professional approach to time, costs and deadlines. The ability to organise projects from start to finish is essential.

Main responsibilities
  • Taking creative briefs and instructions from marketing team colleagues to produce a variety of marketing materials.
  • Keeping the firms Powerpoint and Word templates up-to-date.
  • Using existing design templates to produce regular client communications which are sent out by email via the firm's marketing database.
  • Producing literature to showcase the firm's legal work for its clients.
  • Proof reading to produce accurate and high-quality work.
  • Contributing design ideas to help communicate key messages as part of the firm's campaigns.

Working as part of a team with colleagues who build the firm's reputation through profile raising (online and offline) and help to grow client relationships through a programme of regular contact.

Skills and qualifications
  • Must be proficient using the Adobe Suite (Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator are essential. Some basic knowledge of video editing tools is an advantage, including After Effects and Premiere Pro).
  • Microsoft Office skills are essential, particularly Word and Powerpoint.
  • Candidates will be tested on their skills, including attention to detail and accuracy of spelling.
  • Candidates need to demonstrate a willingness to learn and view critical positively.
  • Any digital skills such as css or html knowledge will be seen as an advantage.
