The team

Our national banking and finance team advises clients on a range of financing transactions across a wide variety of sectors, often with a multi-jurisdictional element. Acting for borrowers, lenders and investors means we have a practical understanding of the needs of all parties to a financing transaction. Our expertise extends to corporate lending, acquisition finance, asset finance, real estate finance, marine and shipping finance, invoice discounting, and refinancings. We work closely with some of the UK's major banks and financial institutions, and have approved panel solicitor status with many of them. We manage transactions from start to finish, ensuring a smooth and cohesive process, enabling clients to continue to focus on building their relationships and running their businesses.

The role

An opportunity has arisen for a Document Specialist.  Providing support to our legal teams in the Banking Department an experienced and highly skilled individual is required to join the team. 

Main responsibilities

You will be required to provide an expert document production service including:-

  • Provide support to the Banking department

Complete work as prioritised:-

  • Priority One - Type and amend long and complicated documents in particular 250 page plus LMA facility agreements, including conforming formatting to Shoosmiths’ style, putting in cross references, cutting and pasting in large schedules without impacting formatting, updating and inserting tables of contents, sorting out corrupted documents
  • Priority Two – Production of letters, power point slides, marketing information
  • Priority Three – Photocopying and scanning documents.
  • Saving documents in the correct systems for access by PAs and legal advisers.
  • Depending on workloads, work might also extend to assisting with billing and diary management.

The role will have daily contact with internal clients. 

Skills and qualifications

You must be able to demonstrate:-

  • an accurate typing speed of 65 wpm
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • legal experience within multi-disciplined areas
  • excellent document management skills
