The team

A bit about the team

The Shoosmiths Learning & Development Team are a creative and diverse team with a wide range of experiences who are really passionate about what we do. Our aim is to help support the business achieve its strategy to be the leading national law firm famous for its client experience.

The Digital Learning Team forms part of the wider Learning & Development Team. We create and develop a wide variety of eLearning courses and other materials to support the Firm, including induction training, legal knowledge and updates, compliance training, and personal and professional development pieces. We can also provide courses to external clients from a suite that we have produced with our SMEs.

We are currently looking for a talented Digital Learning Designer/Specialist to join us and help us continue to develop the Shoomsmiths’ digital learning portfolio.

The role

You will be designing and building digital learning solutions that support our colleagues across the business and for our external clients. You will also provide the day-to-day administration of our LMS, such as adding new starters, managing courses, and creating reports.

You will have accountability for the full design process of your projects from start to finish. You will be working closely and collaborating with SMEs and key stakeholders from across the business, and so strong communication skills are needed to effectively convey learning concepts and ideas, and challenge where necessary. Our aim is to create engaging and effective learning experiences using a range of different tools and styles.

We have a strong brand and visual style at Shoosmiths, and we are looking for someone with an eye for design who can innovate and work creatively alongside these guidelines.

Skills and qualifications

About you:

Essential

  • You’ll have a background in eLearning, preferably have worked as an Instructional Designer, Digital Learning Designer, or similar.
  • Proficient in Microsoft IT applications (i.e. PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and internet navigation)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to deliver to deadlines
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity in a fast paced environment

Desirable

  • Knowledge in eLearning authoring software (i.e. Captivate, Adapt, etc.)
  • Knowledge in image design software (i.e. Photoshop)
  • Experience managing LMS systems
  • Experience with basic audio and video recording and editing (e.g. Camtasia and Audacity)
  • Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and/or JavaScript
