The firm

A leading UK law firm with a network of offices from the South Coast to Scotland, working together as one national team. An innovative practice and the first top 100 law firm to achieve “Gold Standard” Investors in People, our values and culture are not just words on our website but are the heartbeat of the firm. The lack of barriers between departments, a real lack of hierarchy, zero tolerance for arrogance and pomposity makes Shoosmiths a fantastic place to work.

The team

Our award winning national Corporate team, which has been ranked in the top four firms for deal volume for the past four years by Experian MarketIQ's M&A Review, is led by a team of partners widely regarded as leaders in their field and who are regularly recommended by clients for their reputation, personalities and outstanding expertise.

We advise companies, management teams, investors and debt providers through the business life cycle, from start-up and first round finance through M&A, management transactions, venture and development funding, restructuring, capital reductions, private equity funding and exits.

Our busy and highly regarded 3 Partner team in Milton Keynes advises household name clients on the full spectrum of Corporate transactions and has a particular focus on private equity work.

The role

We are initially looking to appoint a Senior Associate or Legal Director on a 9 -12 month fixed term contract. However as we are a growing national team, there may be further opportunities at the end of this initial fixed term.

We’re looking for a candidate with exceptional experience of managing the full spectrum of corporate transactions, preferably with private equity experience. We would expect you to be able to lead, and be confident supervising others in the team on a range of corporate and private equity transactions.

The successful candidate will also have a strong track record of supervising and supporting junior members of the team, as this will form a significant part of this role.

We are an ambitious and dynamic team with an enviable team spirit, and we’re looking for an equally enthusiastic and dedicated individual.

We consider this to be a level 3 competency role.

Equal opportunities

Shoosmiths is a committed Equal Opportunities employer promoting equality of opportunity. This means that everyone who either applies to or works for the firm is treated equally, whatever their gender, age, ethnic origin, nationality, marital status, disability, sexual orientation or religious beliefs.
