An innovative practice and the first top 100 law firm to achieve “Gold Standard” Investors in People, our values and culture are not just words on our website but are the heartbeat of the firm. The lack of barriers between departments, a real lack of hierarchy, zero tolerance for arrogance and pomposity makes Shoosmiths a fantastic place to work.

The team

Our award winning national Corporate team, which has been ranked in the top five firms for deal volume for the past four years by Experian MarketIQ's M&A Review, is led by a team of partners widely regarded as leaders in their field who are regularly recommended by clients for their reputation, personalities and outstanding expertise.

We advise companies, management teams, investors and debt providers through the business life cycle, from start-up and first round finance through M&A, management transactions, venture and development funding, restructuring, capital reductions, private equity funding and exits. We also have a growing corporate finance practice, primarily advising listed clients on equity capital raisings in the public market.

Our highly regarded Thames Valley team is led by 2 Partners; Sanjeev Sharma and Nina Smith and covers the full range of Corporate transactions, including M&A transactions, MBO’s, MBI’s and company reorganisations, we have a particular focus on local and national PE deals. Clients include multi-national PLCs, large privately-owned companies, PE houses, VCs, management teams and high net worth individuals.

The role

Our national team has grown significantly over the last 12 months and is continuing to do so, therefore we are looking for a driven and ambitious Solicitor to join the team and assist in driving our success. Our team has a clear growth strategy, which means that for the right candidate there is the opportunity for real career progression.

In this role you will be able to take ownership of smaller transactions, as well as have the opportunity to assist the Partners on larger, more complex matters. The core focus of the work will be M&A transactions both with a domestic and cross-border element, as well as PE deals and MBO’s.

Our successful candidate will have spent the early stages of their career working in a dedicated Corporate team, and will be well versed in the full spectrum of Corporate deals. You should have experience running smaller matters on your own as well as supporting Partners in larger, more complex deals.

We pride ourselves in providing the best client experience, you will therefore have the opportunity, and be encouraged to take part in a variety of client and BD activities from the outset.
