The firm

A leading UK law firm with a network of offices from the South Coast to Scotland, working together as one national team. An innovative practice and the first top 100 law firm to achieve “Gold Standard” Investors in People, our values and culture are not just words on our website but are the heartbeat of the firm. The lack of barriers between departments, a real lack of hierarchy, zero tolerance for arrogance and pomposity makes Shoosmiths a fantastic place to work.

The team

Our award winning national Corporate team, which has been ranked in the top five firms for deal volume for the past four years by Experian MarketIQ's M&A Review, is led by a team of partners widely regarded as leaders in their field who are regularly recommended by clients for their reputation, personalities and outstanding expertise.

We advise companies, management teams, investors and debt providers through the business life cycle, from start-up and first round finance through M&A, management transactions, venture and development funding, restructuring, capital reductions, private equity funding and exits. We also have a growing corporate finance practice, primarily advising listed clients on equity capital raisings in the public market.

The role

Our work covers the full range of Corporate transactions, with a particular focus on UK domestic and cross-border M&A transactions, PE and corporate finance.

Our national footprint has grown over the last 12 months and an opportunity has arisen for a corporate associate to join our Glasgow office. In this role you will be able to take ownership of smaller transactions, as well as have the opportunity to assist the Partners on larger, more complex matters. The core focus of the work will be M&A transactions both with a domestic and cross-border element, as well as PE deals.

We pride ourselves in providing the best client experience and career development for our people, where you will be encouraged to take part in a variety of client and BD activities from the outset.

Equal opportunities

Shoosmiths is a committed Equal Opportunities employer promoting equality of opportunity. This means that everyone who either applies to or works for the firm is treated equally, whatever their gender, age, ethnic origin, nationality, marital status, disability, sexual orientation or religious beliefs.
