The firm

A leading UK law firm with a network of offices from the South Coast to Scotland, working together as one national team. An innovative practice and the first top 100 law firm to achieve “Gold Standard” Investors in People, our values and culture are not just words on our website but are the heartbeat of the firm. The lack of barriers between departments, a real lack of hierarchy, zero tolerance for arrogance and pomposity makes Shoosmiths a fantastic place to work.

The team

Our national banking and finance team advises clients on a range of financing transactions across a wide variety of sectors, often with a multi-jurisdictional element. Acting for borrowers, lenders and investors means we have a practical understanding of the needs of all parties to a financing transaction. Our expertise extends to corporate lending, leverage finance, asset finance, real estate finance (both investment and development), project finance and invoice discounting. Transaction types vary from SME lending up to governmental lending and all things between. We work closely with some of the UK's major banks and financial institutions and have wide panel status with many of them.

The role

Our Midlands based team is on the look-out for an additional experienced banking associate. This is a brand new and exciting role to support the firm’s strategic investment into our banking team which sits within our corporate division. We are presently a three partner, four associate, two paralegal and one trainee team and we need help to continue to grow. Making serious headway into becoming the most respected national banking practice and with an unrivalled Asset Based Lending brand to add to its growing list credentials.

The work for the right individual already exists - this is not a speculative appointment based on future revenue streams. You would be expected to hit the ground running but would be given high levels of support and encouragement. This is a dynamic team looking for someone committed to growing the brand and the team and firm. If there was ever a right time to join a team, this is it.

We are looking for like-minded individuals who will be naturally proactive in their approach and is as passionate as us in what we do. The work on offer is varied across all mainstream forms of finance and the successful candidates will be working on the full transaction lifecycle including drafting and negotiating facility agreements and security documents (both LMA and non-LMA form), negotiating intercreditor arrangements, overseeing conditions precedent processes and any other matters relating to live lending transactions. With a high volume of transactions, this is an excellent platform to assume matter responsibility and there is ample opportunity to participate in client development initiatives.

As a people centric business, we invest heavily in developing our people by providing an innovative, flexible and supportive environment.
