The firm

A leading UK law firm with a network of offices from the South Coast to Scotland, working together as one national team. An innovative practice and the first top 50 law firm to achieve “Platinum Standard” Investors in People, our values and culture are not just words on our website but are the heartbeat of the firm. The lack of barriers between departments, a real lack of hierarchy, zero tolerance for arrogance makes Shoosmiths a fantastic place to work.

The team

Shoosmiths delivers national solutions supplemented with local knowledge, allowing us to bring the best of both worlds to our clients’ transactions. With 13 locations across the UK, our knowledge of our cities and regions, as well as the connections we have in the local markets and sectors, means we can support our clients in a more intimate way, which factors in the nuances of those markets.

Our construction law team has advised on some of the UK’s most significant construction projects over the years, including infrastructure projects, commercial/residential schemes, town centre redevelopments, urban regeneration schemes, portfolio acquisition/disposal projects and process plants. The team acts for developers, occupiers, funders, construction professionals, contractors and specialists on managing and resolving risks in building and engineering projects.

The role

Due to ongoing growth and increased client instructions we are seeking to appoint additional  solicitors, ideally specialising in non-contentious matters, to join our Birmingham and London based team. Our construction law team has advised on some of the UK’s most significant construction projects over the years, including infrastructure projects, commercial/residential schemes, town centre redevelopments, urban regeneration schemes and portfolio acquisition/disposal projects.

This is a great opportunity to join a full-service expert team where work will be of the highest quality and with plenty of scope to take early responsibility.

You'll be working with people who thrive on being pro-active, bringing energy and ideas to make a real difference to clients. You'll be expected to make things happen and take initiative from day one. If you join us, we'll give you the support to build your career and boost your skills.

As a people centric firm, we invest heavily in developing our people by providing the structure, a supportive work culture in an innovative and flexible environment

Our approach to our people is underpinned by our approach to diversity, inclusion and well being. Our ambition is to build a diverse and ambitious workforce that reflects all backgrounds and talents, and a workplace that is supportive and inclusive, recognises and nurtures talent, and has a strong sense of community between colleagues.

This means that everyone who either applies to or works for the firm is treated equally, whatever their gender, age, ethnic origin, nationality, marital status, disability, sexual orientation or religious beliefs.
