An innovative practice and the first top 50 law firm to achieve “Platinum Standard” Investors in People, our values and culture are not just words on our website but are the heartbeat of the firm. The lack of barriers between departments, a real lack of hierarchy, zero tolerance for arrogance makes Shoosmiths a fantastic place to work.

The team

Our Real Estate group is one of the largest real estate teams in the UK, advising an impressive range of clients including commercial and residential developers, investors, major corporate occupiers and banks/funders. Offering exceptional market knowledge the team holds an outstanding reputation with clients and the market generally. “Clients are full of admiration for this team, noting it combines outstanding technical expertise with a “very” responsive service” (Chambers).

Since the opening of our Birmingham office in 2013, we have gone  from strength to strength. The team focuses on all areas of Real Estate but has particular expertise acting for major UK developers  on high-value, large-scale strategic land projects. The team supports their clients through all stages of the development process  from acquisition of greenfield (including agricultural) and brownfield sites and their work includes advising on development agreements, pre-lets, forward funding and disposals.

This team isn’t all about “big ticket” development though. Their day-to-day work includes  investment transactions (sales, purchases and asset management), real estate financing, and smaller scale developments as well as providing a holistic portfolio management service for occupiers with significant land holdings.

You will be part of a team of specialists within the national development team who deal with transactional, construction, planning, tax and dispute resolution real estate work. Our integrated teams work seamlessly to deliver specialist advice cost effectively and help clients achieve their goals, ensuring nothing is missed. Clients comment on Shoosmiths lawyers’ willingness to listen and understand the commercial goals of their scheme before offering clear, strategic advice.
