The firm

A leading UK law firm with a network of offices from the South Coast to Scotland, working together as one national team. An innovative practice and the first top 50 law firm to achieve “Platinum Standard” Investors in People, our values and culture are not just words on our website but are the heartbeat of the firm. The lack of barriers between departments, a real lack of hierarchy, zero tolerance for arrogance makes Shoosmiths a fantastic place to work.

The team

Our award winning national corporate team, which is consistently ranked as one of the UK’s top law firms for deal volume by Experian MarketIQ's M&A Review, is led by a team of partners widely regarded as leaders in their field who are regularly recommended by clients for their reputation, personalities and outstanding expertise.

We advise companies, management teams, investors and debt providers through the business life cycle, from start-up and first round finance through to M&A, management transactions, venture and development funding, restructuring, capital reductions, private equity funding and exits. We also have a growing corporate finance practice, primarily advising listed clients on equity capital raisings on the public market.

Our highly regarded Milton Keynes team covers the full range of Corporate transactions, with a particular focus on private equity.

The role

Our national team has grown significantly over the last 12 months and continues to do so. Therefore we are looking for a driven and ambitious Senior Associate/Principal Associate to help us further develop our Milton Keynes corporate practice. Our clear growth strategy means that for the right candidate there is the opportunity for real career progression.

The successful candidate will have excellent prior experience working in a dedicated corporate team and be confident supporting and leading on a wide range of corporate work from M&A deals, joint ventures and shareholder arrangements through to equity capital fundraising, compliance and corporate governance.

In this role you will be able to take ownership of transactions, as well as have the opportunity to assist on larger, more complex matters. You will be encouraged to supervise and mentor more junior members of the team. We operate very closely as a national team, so you will also be able to work with our wider team on the full range of corporate transactions.

We pride ourselves in providing the best client experience and you will therefore be encouraged to take part in a variety of client and business development activities from the outset.

Equal opportunities

Our approach to our people is underpinned by our approach to diversity, inclusion and well being. Our ambition is to build a diverse and ambitious workforce that reflects all backgrounds and talents, and a workplace that is supportive and inclusive, recognises and nurtures talent, and has a strong sense of community between colleagues.

This means that everyone who either applies to or works for the firm is treated equally, whatever their gender, age, ethnic origin, nationality, marital status, disability, sexual orientation or religious beliefs.
