The team

The main aim of our Learning and Development Team is to provide Shoosmiths' employees with the skills and knowledge to ensure that Shoosmiths continues on its journey to become a UK law firm most valued by its clients, people and communities.

Our L&D Team is based at the Lakes in Northampton although members of the team frequently travel to other offices to provide hands on support and ensure a quality training programme is maintained.

The role

We need someone who will be responsible for the coordination of all programmes relating to the Shoosmiths Academy and L&D framework which successfully deliver the firm’s strategic goals.

Main responsibilities
  • Promote internally and externally the Shoosmiths Academy
  • Be the main support contact for the Shoosmiths Academy for both internal and external clients.
  • Collaborate with both internal and external clients to drive engagement and bookings on our training events.
  • Line Manage and support the L&D Training Co-ordinator.
  • Manage, maintain and be responsible for the co-ordination of all training events using our internal booking system which includes planning, organising, managing, collecting feedback and providing statistics/reports.
  • Manage and responding swiftly and professionally to all enquiries by telephone and email meeting service deadlines.
  • Ensure all administration processes are followed and maintained.
  • Maintain, update and improve L&D administration processes including the central booking system.
  • Maintain, update and improve L&D intranet pages.
  • Work with all the L&D, Divisions and Directorates to ensure all training events and programmes are run effectively and professionally following agreed standards.
  • Provide reports for the Head of Knowledge Management and L&D
  • Travel when required.
Skills and qualifications

  • Proven track record of working in a busy customer focussed office environment is essential.
  • Customer service experience within a ‘business to business environment’ is essential.
  • Be commercially aware with excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Experience of planning and coordinating detailed projects or programmes.
  • Be able to effectively research and gather data, and present it in a clear, concise way to provide reports when necessary.
  • Excellent administration and writing skills with the ability to create and manage communications internally and externally.
  • Be able to prioritise and manage own workload and take ownership of tasks.

  • Be confident and articulate.
  • Previous management experience desired.
  • IT literate, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Self-motivated, organised and creative.
  • Keen and open to learning.

  • Excellent organisation & time management skills.
  • Discreet, proactive and resourceful.
