The firm

A leading UK law firm with a network of offices from the South Coast to Scotland, working together as one national team. An innovative practice and the first top 50 law firm to achieve “Platinum Standard” Investors in People, our values and culture are not just words on our website but are the heartbeat of the firm. The lack of barriers between departments, a real lack of hierarchy, zero tolerance for arrogance makes Shoosmiths a fantastic place to work.

The team

Our award winning national Corporate team is led by a team of partners widely regarded as leaders in their field who are regularly recommended by clients for their reputation, personalities and outstanding expertise. We work to a simple formula: a can-do ethos, firm values that are much more than words on paper, and the agility to find the best way for each individual client.

Our Corporate team in Scotland is led by Alison Gilson and with an established practice operating across Edinburgh and Glasgow. Our Scottish team has extensive experience advising on a full range of corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, MBOs, MBIs, private equity and venture capital fundraisers, shareholder arrangements, disposals and joint ventures.  We act for local, national and international clients across a wide range of sectors and have developed expertise working with businesses in the healthcare, technology, manufacturing, financial services and media sectors.

The role

Our Edinburgh and Glasgow based team is undergoing an exciting period of growth and is seeking for additional Senior or Principal Associates. Central to our Scottish and national corporate framework, the role offers a wide range of corporate work from M&A deals, joint ventures and shareholder arrangements through to capital fundraising, compliance and corporate governance.  You’ll be joining a dynamic and thriving group therefore your experience in managing transactions across all stages will be helpful. The role will see you take ownership as well assisting on larger, more complex matters.

We have opportunities in both locations, and we would welcome hearing from either locally based Corporate lawyers as well as relocators to Scotland.

We are people centric firm, and we invest heavily in developing our people by providing an innovative, flexible and supportive environment.

Equal opportunities

Our approach to our people is underpinned by our approach to diversity, inclusion and well being. Our ambition is to build a diverse and ambitious workforce that reflects all backgrounds and talents, and a workplace that is supportive and inclusive, recognises and nurtures talent, and has a strong sense of community between colleagues.

This means that everyone who either applies to or works for the firm is treated equally, whatever their gender, age, ethnic origin, nationality, marital status, disability, sexual orientation or religious beliefs.
