The team

Our finance team are committed to providing an efficient and accurate service to our legal advisors and to other support functions.  At the centre of this is ensuring that the client and office accounts are kept up to date and invoices are produced accurately and in a timely manner.

The role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Legal Cashier to join our Finance team in Manchester on a permanent basis. You will be working as part of a larger team supplying an efficient and accurate legal cashiering service to all of our legal advisors in the Manchester and Leeds offices.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous experience within a legal finance environment to broaden your knowledge and gain new skills. You will be an excellent communicator, have a keen eye for detail and be able to manage your own workload.

You will receive full training and support which comprises of a mix of on-the-job to more formal training via classroom and online learning.

Main responsibilities

As part of the finance team you will assist in all day to day cashiering tasks, including billing, allocating and processing electronic payments, banking/raising cheques, inter account transfers, as well as dealing with queries from the legal advisors.

You will be given the opportunity to train on SAP (the finance system) as well as the online banking system.

Given the close collaboration with the finance team and the firms’ legal and support teams, you will need excellent communication skills and be the sort of person who’s not afraid to ask questions or make yourself available to assist colleagues when needed.

Skills and qualifications

In order to be successful, you will have previous experience in a similar role, with a good understanding of the Solicitors Accounts Rules. You will be self-motivated, reliable, and possess excellent communication skills to be able to integrate within a team. You must also be able to work to tight deadlines with excellent attention to detail, plus a good level of IT literacy is needed (however training will be given on the systems you’ll be using). A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above (or equivalent) including Maths and English together with excellent numerical skills is essential.

Ideally in addition to the above, you will have an advanced knowledge of Excel.
