The team

The main aim of our Learning and Development Team is to provide Shoosmiths' employees with the skills and knowledge to ensure that Shoosmiths continues on its journey to become a UK law firm most valued by its clients, people and communities.

Our L&D Team is based at the Lakes in Northampton although members of the team frequently travel to other offices to provide hands on support and ensure a quality training programme is maintained. Therefore the successful candidate will need a driving license and access to their own car as some of our offices are difficult to access via public transport.

The role

The L&D Team are seeking an IT Trainer to join the team on a 9 month fixed-term contract. As an IT Trainer, you will be responsible for delivering new starter system training where required and assist with the delivery of training solutions to support firm wide system rollouts. Furthermore, you will assist the team in designing appropriate training interventions to support firm wide system roll outs.

Main responsibilities
  • Deliver in house system training as required
  • Liaise with L&D Team Manager on a regular basis
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of L&D solutions and recommend appropriate actions where appropriate and necessary
  • Assist in identifying future learning needs within the business
  • Work as part of a team to develop and deliver appropriate learning solutions
Skills and qualifications

Skills Required / Person Specification:

  • Previously training or L&D experience preferred. 
  • High level of general PC literacy – able to use MS Office to Intermediate / Advanced level (Windows 7 and MS Office 2013)
  • Confident in front of an audience
  • Able to communicate with people at all levels within the organisation
  • Good organisation & time management skills
  • Discreet, proactive and resourceful
  • Lively, enthusiastic team player with a proactive approach to their work

General Requirements:

  • Flexible and able to adapt to changing business needs
  • Able to think creatively and develop imaginative solutions to learning needs

You may also have experience in the following: Systems Trainer, Technical Trainer, L&D Specialist, IT Systems Trainer, Business Systems Trainer, Training Consultant.

Background checks

Due to the nature of the work undertaken, confirmation of employment will be subject to a variety of checks which will be carried out once an offer of employment is accepted.  These checks will include employment references covering the last 5 years, proof of ID, proof of address covering the last 5 years, Personnel Vetting credit search (which will only highlight insolvency or County Court Judgments - should any adverse data show on the Personnel Vetting search then any offer of employment made will be withdrawn).Terrorism Check (against data supplied by the Bank of England) and a DBS check previously known as a Criminal Records check.
