Shoosmiths are now looking for their next group of Legal Placement Students to join our Recoveries Services Practice Group on a 12 month placement from Summer 2018.
This is an exciting opportunity for Law undergraduates to gain real and valuable experience. The successful applicants will get involved in undertaking a caseload of instructions, which need to be managed effectively and efficiently. The Placement Student will liaise with our clients, their customers, courts and solicitors, in order to ensure the best possible recoveries are achieved, whilst ensuring we are fully compliant with the relevant regulatory bodies.
Following negotiation, where we are unable to achieve settlement or agree repayment, the Placement Student will be required to carry out litigation procedures.
During the placement year, we will endeavour to make sure students are given the opportunity to visit different departments within the Firm, take part in charity events and attend various meetings with some of our senior members of staff. The placement students will also be required to carry out a presentation on a topic which is relevant at that time.
Please note, this placement year is only open to partnered Universities at this time and is only available to those students who are able to commit to a full-time placement year. |
As a Placement Student, you will manage your own caseload and be responsible for meeting deadlines and targets within your team. You will negotiate with debtors using both telephone and letter writing skills to achieve the best possible outcomes at the earliest opportunity, and will log and maintain details of the case on the case management system. In addition, you will be responsible for ensuring the best possible service is delivered to our clients, acting in a professional and efficient manner, aligning to culture of delivering excellent client satisfaction.
You will be given the opportunity to work alongside experienced Legal Advisors therefore we’re looking for candidates that can integrate themselves as part of a team to achieve the best possible results.
Throughout your 12 month placement, you will attend training sessions to develop your knowledge of the litigation and debt recovery process that impact the team’s delivery of its service, which will better equip you to identify any potential issues within cases and refer these on accordingly. In addition, you will attend both internal and external meetings to assist in implementing changes to any relevant procedures. |
