The Role

The employment, immigration and pensions team currently consists of 4 partners and 11 other employment lawyers (4 senior associates, 4 associates, 1 paralegal and 1 trainee).

The firm’s highly rated employment team handles a wide range of excellent quality contentious and non-contentious work including advisory work on HR issues, disputes related work in the tribunal and courts, drafting employment documentation, employee relations and transaction/outsourcing work. The team’s workload is increasingly top end, complex, premium work and accordingly we are working to strengthen our capacity at that level.

The successful candidate will be responsible for some management and delegation of work to and support of junior colleagues.

Qualifications and Experience

An opportunity has arisen to hire an employment lawyer, ideally with 6 - 8 years' PQE, gained in a major City or leading national/regional practice, as well as good academics and excellent interpersonal skills.  Excellent technical and legal knowledge is required, including in relation to advising on TUPE and drafting complex TUPE provisions.  Experience in relation to advising in relation to agency work would be desirable. 

Candidates will also have strong drafting and negotiation skills and a proven track record in employment work, coupled with enthusiasm for being involved in business development activity.

We are looking for a driven individual who has an interest in working with a wide range of clients and supporting the development of the employment department.

Essentials

  • Ideally at least 6+ years advising employers on a range of employment law and HR issues;
  • Excellent technical ability and drafting skills and attention to detail;
  • Experience advising in relation to complex TUPE matters;
  • Ability to manage own caseload with limited supervision;
  • Business development skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of individuals;
  • Highly motivated and reliable;
  • The ability to work as part of a team;
  • Dedicated to delivering client service to the highest standards and the skill to effectively manage and nurture client relationships;
  • Commercial awareness;
  • Strong academics.
