Not only are we looking to appoint a new Head of HR & L&D, but the Resourcing Advisor is an entirely new role being created and demonstrates the firm’s commitment to this important and strategic area of HR. The new Resourcing Advisor will report to the Head of HR & L&D & help to attract and recruit exceptional talent across our legal and business support functions.

Stevens & Bolton are seeking an experienced recruiter who can partner with senior stakeholders from across the firm to support the achievement of the firm’s growth and strategic development plans.

Operating across multiple levels, the Resourcing Advisor’s responsibilities will range from implementing new strategies to attract and recruit the best candidates for the firm to filling current vacancies and overseeing the onboarding process.

Recruitment & Induction                                                                                                     

  • Be the key point of contact for all legal and business support recruitment, managing relationships internally and externally;
  • Understand and interpret resourcing needs in each department and provide advice from a commercial perspective whilst appreciating the nuances of each department;
  • Liaise with recruiting partners to establish business case and authorisation of vacancies;
  • Conduct initial screening interviews with candidates and liaise with agencies regarding interviews in conjunction with assistance from other HR team members;
  • Support the coaching and upskilling of partners in the development of their interview technique;
  • Assist with all interviews and selection process, including reviewing written tests and use of Watson Glaser test;
  • Ensure pre-employment checks are completed and associated issues arising are managed including the management of any visa / work permit / eligibility to work in UK issues;
  • Manage the offer process, ensuring that our offers are competitive in the market and deal with each individual offer’s structure;
  • Support the induction procedures of all legal and business support staff.

Candidate Sourcing Strategies and Public Relations

  • Liaise with external recruiters to support resourcing and build strong relationships with the appropriate recruiters including
  • Modernise our approach to sourcing including leveraging social media;
  • Review and develop advertisements/job descriptions as and when vacancies arise;
  • Manage the vacancy listings on internal and external websites;
  • Take ownership of the firm’s website and intranet resourcing areas and drive the best use of technology to aid recruitment;
  • Keep up to date on and participate in annual market intelligence and benchmarking activities for recruitment practices and remuneration;
  • Be connected in the recruitment market; understand current trends;
  • Collaborate closely with Business Development and with HR Operations.

Policy Development and Projects

  • Work with the head of HR & L&D to manage and implement policies and best practice as relate to the recruitment lifecycle and continuously improve them;
  • Monitor, review and develop recruitment policies and ensure compliance with employment legislation and best practice;
  • Assist in activities to promote and improve diversity at the firm;
  • Support annual salary and bonus review process through collating market information, advising on market trends and making recommendations for salaries and bonuses;
  • Work with the HR team and stakeholders across the business on various HR & L&D projects.
Qualifications and Experience

Desired skills & experience

  • 5+ years recruitment experience within a professional services business;
  • Previous experience of working in a legal or professional services partnership would be an advantage;
  • A credible individual who can influence stakeholders across the business;
  • Experience of solving employer brand and resourcing issues;
  • Commercially astute and a good understanding of the practical application of recruitment;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The Opportunity

Competitive base salary and benefits package including contributory pension scheme, private medical insurance (after a qualifying period), 25 days holiday with the option to buy up to 5/ sell up to 3 days.

Core hours are 09:00 – 17:30 with potential for a flexible working arrangement of up to four days per week.

HR & L&D report to the Managing Partner, Richard King who has overall responsibility for the day to day management of the firm through a management board which comprises the heads of department, who are 6 of the Partners. There is also a strategy board chaired by the Senior Partner - Richard Baxter - which comprises 4 Partners who oversee the strategic development of the firm.
