The team

The Marketing and Business Development department are collectively responsible for building brand equity and supporting the growth of the firm. Marketing leads activity that builds reputation and recognition in the market whilst business development is focused on the retention and growth of clients alongside targeting new clients.

Client insight, data and research is applied and deployed across the team to inform decision making and activities in line with business plans at sector at departmental level.

Close working of all members of the team helps to ensure that the Marketing & Business Development department has a collective focus on the client agenda alongside the firm’s vision to be the UK’s leading Infrastructure firm.

The opportunity

This role will play an active part in working across BD activity for Sectors and Departments alongside across our offices, in particular Southampton as well as London. Whilst reporting to the Sectors & Department BD Manager. The primary purpose of the BD Executive is to play a leading role in the set up and implementation of a key account management programme and to support on the development of a referrer programme firm wide.

Identifying and pursuing cross selling or opportunities to coordinate across the firm as well contribute to account-based marketing activities mean this role will help to create more structure and growth around priority clients and steer focused marketing activity across these key relationships at the same time – positioning for further growth, opportunity and long-term retention.

The BD Executive role intended to add an account management skill set and focus into the department. Due to the client focus there is great exposure to Partners and Lawyers across the firm and the opportunity to build knowledge and understanding of the firm’s clients. 

Priorities

  1. Take a lead role in the set up and implementation of a key account management programme
  2. Support on the development of a referrer programme firm-wide working closely with the Sectors & Department BD Manager and BD Manager for Individuals
  3. Deliver BD activities aligned to Sector and Department business plans
  4. Work with the Southampton office on pursuit of regional opportunities and valuable connections and cross selling across the firm.
Who we are looking for

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the team with marketing and BD activities that support business plans
  • Align client feedback and insight with account plans and approach
  • Reporting on, measuring ROI across client relationships, and supporting the set-up and implementation of key account management processes.
  • Identifying opportunities for increased coordination between (London and) our regional offices and the client portfolio across them.
  • Contributing to account-based marketing approach and activities
  • Assist with informal pitches preparation and materials
  • Work with the Events & Client Experience Manager in particular on client experience activities
  • Contribute to best practice across the team including effective use of the firms CRM database.
  • Identify ways to improve process and reporting to increase efficiency, ensure ROI and enhance relationships

This role would ideally suit an Executive looking for a challenging role that is focused on key account management and contributing to the growth strategy of the firm.

Attributes required include:

  • 3+ years’ business development experience including key account management in a professional services environment
  • Previous exposure to client feedback initiatives preferable
  • Energy, drive and tenacity
  • A cross selling mind-set
  • Confident and comfortable in networking environments
  • Excellent attention to detail, good organisation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels
  • Proactive attitude to work, brings a high level of commitment and enthusiasm to managing a number of projects and tasks
  • Comfortable taking a brief for a project, seeking clarification where needed
  • Ability to work well in a team, with a positive and friendly attitude
  • Flexibility to work additional or out of office hours, where business needs dictate for Events, networking etc
  • Skills in MS Office packages, previous use of CRM systems such as InterAction are advantageous
