Purpose of the job

Aligned to the strategy of the firm and the team, the purpose of this role is identify, facilitate and deliver on a broad range of opportunities (primarily local) that will enhance our reputation and brand presence at both firm and individual level, and to develop new contacts and strong relationships that will attract new business and increase revenue.

As part of a small but vital team, you must have the confidence and professionalism to deal directly with our clients, but also a willingness to roll up your sleeves, work collaboratively with others and get involved in a broad range of business development and marketing initiatives as required. 

Main responsibilities

  • In line with the agreed firm's strategy and targets, to identify and assess opportunities in order to create a cohesive plan that will:
    • raise the firm's profile
    • raise the partners/fee earners profiles
    • create new connections with potential clients/intermediaries
  • Preparing a rolling and detailed schedule to seek budget approval and support from the Head of BD and Marketing
  • Managing all logistics of the activities/initiatives approved to include:
    • event lists
    • invites and registrations
    • budget management
    • scheduling
    • supplier management
    • printed materials and branded goods
    • preparation of speakers
    • technical aspects
    • invoicing
    • managing post-communications and ensuring any feedback is acted upon
    • following up and measuring the outcome
  • Delivering all initiatives/events on time and within budget
  • Keeping abreast of local events and continually developing your personal network in order to capture opportunities 
  • Helping to maintain and retain key client relationships through attendance at networking events
  • Following up new business opportunities and setting up meetings
  • Continually looking for ways to enhance understanding and knowledge of the business and our service lines
  • Playing an active role in the management of our social media strategy to help develop our online presence
  • Building strong and respectful relationships amongst colleagues, clients and suppliers
  • Providing a wide range of support across the teams activities as required by the Head of BD and Marketing

Qualifications

Educated to degree level.  May hold or be working towards a relevant professional qualification

Knowledge/skills/experience

  • Likely to have two to four years' business development and/or marketing experience in a professional services firm
  • A proven history of event planning
  • Strong self-confidence in networking and exceptional organisational skills
  • A commercial and client focused approach
  • Tech savvy, with strong digital marketing/social media experience
  • Experience of working with CRM systems
  • Project management skills
