We're looking for someone at Assistant Manager level to join our Client Take-on team on a six-month contract basis to provide additional support to our busy team while they complete the implementation of our new take-on system.

The department

Our Client Take-on team provides a smooth and welcoming on-boarding experience for our clients across all our juridictions whilst providing a first line of defence protecting the business against legal, financial and reputational risks.

Purpose of the job

To play a key role in ensuring our Client Take-on team provide an efficient and timely support service with all aspects of the client take-on process across various practice areas in all our locations, with a focus on our Financial Services Law ("FSL") and International Private Client ("IPC") practices.

Main responsibilities

  • To support the client take on team with all aspects of the client take-on process and running of the team.
  • Assist with training the relevant teams on CDD/databases etc.
  • Prepare client/matter files and open the new matter through the LIMO process.
  • Ensure that team members are trained on how to perform client screening, internet searches and other appropriate checks.
  • Liaise with clients as appropriate.
  • Prioritise and track the progress of CDD documentation and matter opening and obtain progress updates from the client or fee earner as appropriate.
  • Review the work of more junior staff to ensure that regulatory requirements are met.
  • Ensure that practice areas are supported, trained and educated so that take on occurs efficiently and effectively, to include attending the practice area team meetings as appropriate.
  • In consultation with the relevant fee earner agree approach to obtaining additional information.
  • Liaise with members of the compliance team as required for guidance and advice and arrange compliance sign off of client take on files.
  • Ensure the completion of PEP submissions to the PEP/Risk Committee are managed in a timely manner.
  • Taking an active role in any working parties and testing new systems/processes.
  • Escalating any issues/risks arising promptly to the fee earner, group partner, compliance team or MLRO as appropriate.
  • Ensure an awareness and understanding of local Regulatory requirements of yourself and other team members.

Qualifications

  • Ideally educated to A-level or equivalent standard
  • ICA or other relevant compliance qualification desirable

Knowledge/skills/experience

  • An awareness and understanding of local regulatory requirements
  • At least 5 years' industry experience.
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Good technical knowledge relating to Jersey and AML legislation
  • Strong IT skills
