The department

Birketts LLP is a UK Top 50 law firm, with a very busy Accounts team who are based in Ipswich town centre. The team is now looking for an energetic and dynamic Legal Accounts Assistant to come and work alongside other team members. You will provide full legal accounts administrative support to the firm’s partners and fee-earners as well as our business support teams.

Purpose of job

On a day-to-day basis you will:

  • Effectively receive and process all payments and receipts for client and office accounts.
  • Accurately conduct CHAPS, BACS, International Payments and Inter Account Transfers within agreed time limits.
  • Assist and support other team members in other duties as required.
  • Other administrative duties as required.
  • Ensuring that own knowledge and skills are kept up to date, requesting training where necessary.
The candidate

The ideal candidate will come from a professional services administrative background, although this is not essential. You will be process driven and highly organised, enjoying supporting fee earners in a busy law firm. Great at multi-tasking as well as working in a fast paced, process driven environment.

  • Previous experience working as a Legal Account Assistant or in a similar role is advantageous however not essential, as training will be provided.
  • Strong IT skills, including word and excel.
  • Good organisation and administrative skills.
  • Accuracy and diligence.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise.
  • Excellent communication skills.
