The department

We are recognised as one of the leading regional firms in advising private clients on a broad range of issues relating to estates and private property, tax planning and family matters, our team has experienced a period of continued growth and investment. 

The Tax and Trusts Team are part of the full service Private Client Advisory Department.  They compliment the wider Private Client Advisory team, specialising in:-

- advice to private clients and trustees regarding particular events or transactions and dealing with the associated tax reporting;

- administration and taxation of trusts for individuals, families and charities. We offer a bespoke service in administering trusts, tailored to the specific needs of individual trustees and beneficiaries.

Purpose of job

To provide tax advice to high net worth individuals and trustees on particular events or transactions and to deal with associated tax reporting (including 60 day CGT returns, IHT returns and personal tax returns).

To provide assistance to the Partner head and the Senior Tax Advisor within the Team in dealing with tax work generated from internal and external sources and to help develop and generate new work. Consequently the role will include business development activities as well as tax technical work and to further help develop the profile of the team both internally and externally.  The individual will also provide assistance to our International Tax Advisory Team on dealing with any private client tax reporting aspects.

Accountabilities

The core duties include:

  • Tax planning in relation to income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax, advising personal, trust and estate tax clients.
  • Development of personal tax work and participate in business development activities
  • Dealing with all forms of personal tax reporting including review of work and supervision and development of more junior colleagues
The candidate

Our ideal candidate will be someone who:-

  • is a personal tax advisor able to advise on a range of personal taxes including income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax;
  • has some knowledge of Trusts;
  • is experienced in all forms of personal tax;
  • has a formal tax qualification such as STEP or ATT or CTA or similar qualification;
  • has previously participated in business development activities
  • enjoys being part of a team and takes initiative
  • has an interest in making use of tech to improve efficiency both in terms of advice and tax compliance
