Head of Guest Services (10 month contract)

Term: Contract
Working hours: Full-time
Team: Facilities
Location: Newcastle or London
Specialism: Guest Services

Maternity contract to work August 2017 – May 2018.

It's no secret that we're an ambitious business and our vision reflects that, but more importantly, it puts clients at the very heart of what we do.  We pride ourselves on our outstanding client experience and it's something that we've become so well known for.  That's where you come in, as our new interim Head of Guest Services.

So what's the job?

You'll manage our Guest Services teams across our 8 UK offices.  You'll also assist the Facilities Director and work as part of a highly skilled team ensuring that the requirements of our firm are met in an efficient, effective and environmentally sensitive manner.  We're looking for the highest standards in all our offices.   Your responsibilities will include the management of reception, telephony, catering and travel services.

The role can be based either in Newcastle or London.  We have two big offices in Newcastle not far from each other both offering fantastic panoramic views of the city.  London is a smaller office but with a big view of the iconic Tower Bridge.   You'll need to travel to our other offices from time to time which include Bristol, Southampton, Plymouth, Leeds, Aberdeen and Edinburgh.

What experience does the role need?

Well firstly we'll need you to be an excellent people manager, a natural motivator who projects a positive image and attitude and someone who is always looking to exceed expectations.  Knowledge of contract catering will be an advantage as will previous experience of managing and leading front of house operations within a corporate environment.  We have a small team of travel advisors who will also look to you for leadership.

It goes without saying that you'll develop and maintain external supplier relationships, keep abreast of new guest services developments and technologies, monitor contracts against SLA's and KPI's, take responsibility for the operational budget, provide the team with strategic leadership, conduct service reviews, as well as aligning the guest services experience to the firm's brand.

Experience within a legal context would be helpful but we're open minded to other professional experience, and, in fact, welcome the challenge that might bring.  What is crucial to success in this role is a focus on high quality service delivery, excellent communication skills, an ability to build strong relationships and influence people at a senior level.  You'll need to quickly establish credibility in this role, be professional, commercially minded, have a proactive approach and take responsibility for your actions.   Lead by example and understand the importance of working together, sharing responsibilities and promoting team spirit.

You'll need to have proven experience in a management role with a background in corporate reception services and ideally a IOSH Managing Safely qualification.  Membership pf the BIFM will be an advantage.
