The firm

Debevoise & Plimpton LLP is a leading international law firm with offices across the world. It has a substantial European practice with particular emphasis on international arbitration and litigation, cross-border acquisitions, capital markets transactions, private equity funds, financings and restructurings. The London office has more than 130 lawyers, including 26 partners and 21 international counsel. Over two thirds of our lawyers are UK-qualified. Our London lawyers work closely with their colleagues in New York, Paris and Frankfurt, as well as with lawyers in our other offices. The London office has an overall count of around 260. 

The department

The recruitment department is responsible for the management of all aspects of lawyer, support staff and graduate recruitment for the London office, as well as being on the ground support for the global recruitment teams based in the firm's other offices. 

The position

We are excited to be hiring a motivated and proactive individual to join our team as a Recruitment Coordinator.  As a key member of our team, you will facilitate and support the entire recruitment cycle, playing an important role in delivering an efficient and reliable recruitment service to our firm. The successful candidate must have a professional manner and first-class communication skills. They must be highly organised and able to demonstrate a pro-active approach to their work with the ability to work on their own initiative. They must enjoy working in a busy team environment and will need to have a flexible and enjoys collaboration as well as a willing attitude.

Responsibilities

Key tasks include:

  • Support the Recruitment Advisor with recruitment activities (which may include a mix of fee earner, business services and graduate recruitment).
  • Maintain the firm’s recruitment portal AllHires.
  • Create job descriptions when needed.
  • Administer recruitment processes including, but not limited to, liaising with agents and candidates directly, managing interviewer diaries ensuring efficient communication around interview times and details to both internal hiring managers and external recruiters.
  • Gather feedback following interviews, ensure both internal and external clients and candidates are updated in a timely fashion and kept up to date with on-going processes.
  • Liaise with HR on candidate onboarding topics: contracts, background checks, conflicts checks, visa requirements.
  • Assist the Recruitment Advisor with the graduate recruitment process which includes, Open Days, Vacation Schemes and University Campus events. This involves some travel and overnight stays occasionally.
  • Assist with the trainee process from application to training contract.
  • Ad hoc projects in line with the level of the role.
Skills, experience & qualifications
  • Some experience working within a recruitment function in a professional services environment, ideally legal.
  • Experience of using an applicant tracking system.
  • Excellent organisation, attention to detail and prioritisation skills with the ability to manage a varied and demanding workload often to tight deadlines.
  • Client focused, with ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build successful relationships at all levels.
  • Team player with a flexible and willing attitude.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours from time to time.
  • Professional, reliable and supportive team member
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, ATS experience is a plus.
