The Team

The role will be based within the Private Client Department. The candidate will however work closely with a number of other Practice Areas within the business.

The Firm is already a leader in providing advice to International Private Clients.  It is able to provide these clients with very comprehensive advice ranging from tax and trust planning to high end residential property, employment, disputes, reputation management, family law, corporate etc. We are looking to recruit an Associate level individual into our growing Immigration team. The team specialises in providing immigration advice to high net worth individuals, small corporates and national institutions.

Scope

To assist the Private Client Department in developing the Firm's Immigration Practice, working with high net worth clients and to provide expert timely advice to clients in relation to their immigration requirements.

The role will involve working with colleagues across the Firm as well as with the Private Client Department, to help other departments assist their clients with immigration enquiries from a Family Law, Corporate or Charities perspective.

The ideal candidate will be a team player, with strong interpersonal skills. It is a requirement that the individual should be confident in their ability to provide immigration advice to clients, assisting the Immigration team members with their growing practice primarily in the areas of high net worth private client, European and business related immigration applications. There is also scope to be involved in complex immigration based litigation.

Responsibilities
  • Providing accurate and timely advice on a wide range of Immigration related matters to a broad range of internal and external clients.
  • Promoting the Immigration practice both internally and externally, contributing to know-how, participating in internal and external seminars and assisting with client events.
  • To share knowledge, skills and experience within the business to support the development of the practice.

Skills and Experience
  • Solid demonstrable immigration experience gained with another recognised law firm.
  • Experience dealing in all aspects of private as well as business immigration law.
  • The ability to work under supervision and, at times to manage own caseload as well as the ability to help with business development strategies with the support of Partners across the Firm.
  • Client-focused approach and strong exposure to marketing & business development techniques.
  • Efficient communication skills and the ability to pitch the advice to the person receiving it.
  • The ability to deal with multiple matters at any one time.
  • The organisational skills to keep files in order and to move transactions to completion effectively.
Person Specification
  • An ability to deal calmly and with authority and where necessary to work to tight deadlines.
  • An enthusiasm for team work, dealing with people, and an ability to assume responsibility and deal efficiently with a varied and demanding workload will also be a key requirement.
Education and Qualifications
  • Minimum 2.1 degree and a training contract undertaken in a mid-sized or city firm.

The hours of work for this opportunity are 9:30am-5:30pm but it is essential to be committed, flexible and prepared to work beyond the normal office hours when necessary and in response to client demand.
