The Team

The Team provides advice on all aspects of financial services law regulation with a particular emphasis on asset management and banking regulation. The team has advised on all of the significant regulatory developments over the past decade including MiFID I and II, UCITS, AIFMD, SMCR as well as PSD I and II, MMR, and MCD implementation.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of regulatory matters for a broad client base including private banks, wealth managers, asset managers, payment service providers,  corporate finance firms and other regulated businesses.

The team also has a substantial funds practice advising asset managers on the launch and management of new funds particularly FCA regulated funds (include OEICs, Authorised Unit Trusts and Authorised Contractual Schemes) as well as unregulated investment funds. The team has acted on many novel fund structures particularly in the context of charity investment funds and other unique pooled investment vehicles set up under statute.

Scope

We are looking for an associate to join our highly successful and growing financial services and funds practice.

The successful applicant will have good financial services experience, will be an excellent communicator, good team player and have a keen interest in practice and business development.

Responsibilities
  • Advising on regulatory queries received from clients
  • Assisting on larger regulatory projects, including; research, drafting letters/emails of advice and relevant agreements
  • Assisting of new fund launches and changes to existing funds
Skills and Experience
  • Good level of technical knowledge relating to the practice area
  • Interest and enthusiasm in respect of financial services regulation
  • Efficient communication skills and the ability to communicate advice to the person receiving it
  • The ability to deal with many matters at any one time
  • The organisation skills to keep files in order and to move transactions to completion effectively

Education and Qualifications
  • Minimum 2.1 degree and a training contract undertaken in a mid-sized or city firm

Our office hours are 9.30am to 5.30pm but it is essential that the applicant is committed, flexible and prepared to work beyond normal office hours when necessary and in response to the demands of the business.
