The Team

The team provides clients with prompt, practical advice covering all aspects of residential property including conveyancing and the financing (both on acquisition and refinancing) of such properties. Many of the team's transactions are complex and involve overseas jurisdictions.

The team is ranked in tier 1 in both the Legal 500 and Chambers High Net Worth guides.

Scope

The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of freehold/leasehold property conveyancing including sales and purchases and management matters. You will be acting on property finance transactions, typically as separate representation for private banks in obtaining security over freehold/leasehold interests and on refinancing. You will be required to give general advice on property related matters and to be able to liaise with property agents as well as clients and their advisers.

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will have a level of technical knowledge commensurate with their experience relating to the residential and secured lending practice area. They will have excellent communication skills and the ability to pitch advice to the needs of the client and go beyond simple reporting of issues. The candidate will have proven ability at managing a varied and often demanding workload. Enthusiasm and a willingness to work hard, as part of an ambitious team, are key attributes and the team would welcome applications from candidates looking to increase the complexity and demands of the work they do. In addition, the successful candidate should have a willingness to increase their business development network and profile in the market generally and to support the team generally with attendance at events and networking opportunities.

The candidate will be an enthusiastic team player who is comfortable dealing with people across all levels, both internally within the firm and externally. The candidate will be someone who assumes responsibility and is constantly looking at new ways to deal efficiently with a varied, and often demanding workload. They will deal calmly and confidently with intermediaries and clients and, with support, have the ability to manage the demands of a varied workload within tight timescales.

Person Specification
  • Good knowledge relating to residential and secured lending work and motivation to progress to more complex and demanding work; 
  • efficient communication skills and the ability to communicate advice to the person receiving it;
  • the ability to deal with many matters at any one time;
  • the organisation skills to keep files in order and to move transactions to completion effectively;
  • high intellectual calibre with a pragmatic and commercial approach to the law;
  • an enthusiasm for team work and an ability to assume responsibility and deal efficiently with a varied and often demanding workload ; and
  • the candidate will be expected to become an integral part of an established and highly regarded team.
Education and Qualifications
  • Minimum 2.1 degree and a training contract undertaken in a mid-sized or city firm or a firm with residential conveyancing expertise.

Our office hours are 9.30am to 5.30pm but it is essential that the applicant is committed, flexible and prepared to work beyond normal office hours when necessary and in response to the demands of the business.
