Scope

The Risk & Compliance Officer will support and assist the Risk and Compliance Manager, Risk Management Committee and other members of the firm in relation to various risk and compliance matters.

Responsibilities
  • Updating, maintaining and advising on the firm's “Business and Services
  • Standards” (BASS) office manual, Quality Policy, supporting Annexures, Client Care Letter templates and Terms of Engagement
  • Assisting the Risk & Compliance Manager with research and special projects
  • Updating the firm’s AML compliance materials and other internal policies (Modern Slavery, Outsourcing and Procurement and Anti-Bribery and Corruption, for example) and intranet resources
  • Conducting the firm's internal annual file reviews
  • Managing data security breach reporting and maintaining the firm’s Data Security Breach Register
  • Conducting responses to Data Subject Access Requests received from clients or third parties
  • Assisting with the firm’s General Data Protection Regulation compliance project
  • Analysing the firm’s client Outside Counsel Guidelines and panel appointment obligations.

 

Skills and Experience

The candidate will have a high level of technical knowledge relating to risk and compliance matters and will be able to apply that knowledge and their experience to a broad range of matters and projects.

The candidate will have a self-starting approach and, whilst part of a team, is able to work on their own initiative. They will possess excellent organisational skills and a strong attention to detail. The candidate will have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and able to tailor their advice and guidance to suit their audience.

Person Specification

The suitable candidate will be a qualified lawyer who has experience of working in the legal sector, preferably within a mid-sized or city law firm. They will be personable and have an enthusiasm for team working. The candidate is someone who assumes responsibility and deals efficiently with a varied and often demanding workload. They will also have the ability to deal calmly, confidently and competently with all levels of staff from across the firm.

A qualified lawyer who has experience of working in the legal sector who understands case law and is seeking part-time work within Business Services.
