Scope

To provide a high quality paralegal, administrative support to the Responsible Business Partner and Head of Pro Bono – Counsel. Also assisting with legal research when required. The Paralegal will be flexible, highly motivated, display outstanding attention to detail and have the ability to multitask with ease.

Responsibilities
  • Co-ordinating and managing multiple diaries and appointments.
  • Providing general administrative support to the team.
  • Draft and proof-read legal documents and prepare written reports as requested.
  • Producing attendance notes, emails, letters, presentations and other documents as required.
  • Assisting in the preparation of bundles as requested.
  • Conducting legal research using a variety of online and reference sources. Researching, analysing and interpreting general business periodicals and professional journals, annual reports etc.
  • Building and maintaining technical knowledge of clients and their matters and their work/requirements in general. 
  • Methodically analyse and summarise complex issues; finding solutions and communicating them effectively.
  • Provide support to fee-earners on cases through investigations, drafting, research and analysis.
  • Assist fee-earners with researching, updating, editing and publishing books and articles as requested.
  • Assist other members of the team when preparing for client meetings.
  • Attend client meetings, alongside other fee-earners and produce attendance notes as requested.
  • To work the team in arranging marketing and Business Development activities, liaising with Marketing as appropriate.
  • Maintaining client contact details and business development activities on CRM (Interaction) database.
  • To regularly, frequently and accurately maintain and update correspondence and other e-filing.
  • To work under pressure to meet deadlines with a flexible attitude to working overtime when an urgent task/transaction may require.
  • To maintain confidentiality in respect of those matters which are particularly commercially sensitive or secret, and only share them with colleagues and others on a need to know basis who are themselves bound by an obligation of confidentiality.
  • Take responsibility for accurate Aderant entry to ensure timely and accurate billing where appropriate.

  • Previous relevant experience or a genuine interest in this area of law is desirable.
Education and Qualifications
  • Strong educational background, law degree preferred.
  • Previous paralegal experience would be preferred.

The hours of work for this opportunity are 09:30am-5:30pm but it is essential to be committed, flexible and prepared to work beyond the normal office hours when necessary and in response to client demand.
