The Team

The POD team currently consists of a Head of People & Organisational Development, a People & Organisational Development Manager and a People & Organisational Development Apprentice. They form part of the wider HR team.

Responsibilities

Coordination:

  • Coordinate all logistical aspects of the annual training schedules, and ad hoc internal training courses and working with the POD Apprentice to ensure everything is in place.  This includes scheduling, liaising with training representatives, booking rooms, managing diaries, sending reminders, arranging catering, IT equipment and course materials, preparing all training materials, updating LexisOne and sending out post-course evaluation requests.
  • Oversee all requests for external training to ensure internal processes are followed, and that external courses have been booked, paid and diarised.
  • Leading on arranging and organising departmental away days and on occasion may also help facilitate away day sessions.
  • Oversee  the maintenance and updating of intranet content
  • Monitor the P&OD  budget and prepare monthly reports
  • Oversee the POD in box and help the POD Apprentice respond/field responses
  • Collate and analyse  data (including training needs analysis data) and provide regular training reports as required
  • General co-ordination and support for the P&OD team, and for the wider HR team where required
  • Being on the HR team to assist with meeting and briefing new joiners on the first day of induction (this will be shared out on a rota basis).

Advisory:

  • You will be an experienced L&D professional working at Advisory level, or ready to step into such a role. You may be experienced in designing (and possibly delivering) some training within professional services, ideally within legal.
  • You will have responsibility for helping designing training strategies and (on occasion) delivering learning outcomes throughout the business and ensuring as a team we deliver targeted and blended learning solutions. You will help ensure that all solutions are commercial, evaluated and meet the needs of the business with a focus on application and deliver.
  • You will help advise on CC requirements for solicitors, barristers, trainee solicitors and legal executives and helping record Training hours
  • You will be part of the team from day one, helping identify capability gaps and implementing learning interventions and programmes to bridge these gaps. As part of the team you will work in partnership with the business, and external industry experts and build long lasting relationships.
  • Alongside the Head of POD and the POD Manager, you will assist with the mentoring and development of the POD Administrator.
Key Skills & Experience
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Experience in a similar role in a professional services environment is desirable but not essential
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A confident and professional manner
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong IT skills (including a good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook, and Databases)
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
  • A flexible approach to work
