The Team

We are looking to recruit a Data Protection and Information Officer to join our team in Manchester, working as part of the wider Risk team, supporting the team as a whole.

Your role will involve providing efficient and effective Data Protection support within the firm.

Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills are essential. Strong IT skills, in particular outlook diary management and excel are required to be successful along with having the ability to prioritise. 

With GDPR changes being enforced from May 2018, this person will be a substantial contributor to educating the firm's employees and supporting the changes in process and procedures.

This post is key to supporting the business to ensure ongoing compliance, client records and employee information uses and access.

  • Support the Group’s GDPR project; supporting data mapping, drafting policies and guidance notes, remaining abreast of updates and creating summary documents

  • Managing day-to-day data protection compliance and advising on legal requirements and best practice

  • Being  the main day-to-day contact with the business to advise on potential complaints and breaches, ensuring that all breaches are notified and investigated in accordance with the legal framework

  • Being the main day-to-day contact for all subject access requests and third party requests for data, ensuring that all requests for information are properly handled

  • Review and revision of all internal policies dealing with data protection and data management

  • Provide data protection input to new Projects being implemented across the business and produce Privacy Impact Assessments as required with the relevant area of business

  • Development and maintenance of a data protection knowledge base for the business

  • Assist in the development and delivery of a comprehensive privacy awareness training programmeusing face to face and on-line training

  • Develop an understanding of operational processes and controls, and support in assessing their effectiveness in mitigating data protection risks faced by the f

  • Support periodic audits of data protection and information security compliance within the firm

  • Support work to ensure good records management is maintained across the firm

  • Support day-to-day administrative tasks within the GDPR project and wider Information Governance arena

  • Guide colleagues in locating relevant information on GDPR, Information Security and Data Privacy to support their roles

Key Skills & Experience

  • A strong background and skillset in data protection gained in a commercial or healthcare organisation

  • Previous experience in a data protection role.

  • Working knowledgeof Privacy and GDPR.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Degree educated, preferably in legal or compliance related subject

  • Demonstrates problem solving skills

  • Ability to adapt to ever changing needs of the firm,

  • Able to be client facing and facilitate meetings with internal and external stakeholders

  • Able to conduct technical discussions in simple terms
