The Team

Fieldfisher's multi-disciplinary, award winning IP Transactions & Commercialisation Department comprises a team of international lawyers, each an expert in their area of law:  our media group, one of the strongest and most active in the UK, is one of the few practices in London to combine commercial media and entertainment expertise with a market leading media sector corporate and tax capability; our franchising team, one of the world's leading franchising practices and the largest dedicated full-service franchising team in the UK, has long established expertise in helping domestic and international clients expand both at home and worldwide; our dedicated advertising and marketing team, consistently ranked amongst the top five European law, advises on copy clearance, sales promotions, advertising agency agreements, data collection and direct marketing, endorsement contracts, sponsorship and global loyalty schemes and partnership agreements; and our life sciences team advises clients on the whole range of specialist life sciences work including some of the most complex IP transactions and all other agreements with a highly regulated element, such as agreements for clinical trials and manufacturing and supply.

The Team consists of 6 Partners, 10 Fee Earners, 1 Trainee, 2 PAs and 1 LSA.

This is a great opportunity for someone with ILEX, or business/administration qualifications. Alternatively someone with strong office and administration skills from professional services who may like to develop use these in a law firm. You will be joining our 550 strong team in London. This is a key role in the Department that supports all Partners, fee earners and secretaries under the supervision of the Department Lead Secretary as follows:

  • Audio and copy typing including amending documents (using tracked changes), letters and emails, having the initiative to ensure that information is correct and checking, where appropriate, ensuring house style is adhered to and work is professionally presented, with no spelling or grammatical errors
  • Processing expenses, invoices and payments received, ensuring that the correct charge codes are used and follow up action taken where appropriate
  • Photocopying, scanning and printing, taking care to check all work before passing over, ie are any pages missing, is the document legible
  • Supporting the preparation of bulk documentation
  • Using Outlook to send and monitor calendar appointments, electronic filing
  • Upkeep and maintenance of the department's Interaction database including inputting business cards/data as appropriate Winscribe dictation
Key Skills & Experience
  • The ideal candidate will have relevant experience gained in a similar role within a professional services/law firm.

  • Will have good IT skills and be able to use Word, Outlook, -  Powerpoint and Excel.

  • Good communication skills with the ability to liaise and work well with Partners, Associates, Fee earners, Business Support staff and other secretaries.

  • Typing speed at least 45-50 wpm, but will be expected to develop to a higher speed.

  • GCSE Maths and English essential for the role, with good grades

  • Quick learner and can do attitude
