The Team

The team has many years’ experience of tax disputes across the whole of the tax system. This ranges from acting for FTSE 100 companies in complex cross-border matters that concern £100millions through to private individuals where the amounts in issue are significantly less. Uniquely, the team is able to advise on all contentious matters that pertain to tax. This includes prosecutions for cheat; disclosures to HMRC; professional negligence actions (particularly in relation to "tax schemes"); ‘traditional’ civil enquiries; and appeals to the tax tribunals (and beyond).

We are a friendly and open team that operates at a high level, whilst retaining a healthy respect for work-life balance.  We are looking for a highly capable and flexibly minded candidate who will be able to work with all of our partners and handle a mixed and regularly changing work-load. 



The role will involve working with and gaining valuable experience across all the areas of our busy and profitable contentious tax practice:

  • Proactively manage own files and support existing caseloads
  • Preparing documents required in the preparation of cases to hearing
  • Liaising with counsel/experts
  • Liaising with clients and handling matters with the appropriate sensitivity
  • Responsibility and management of an existing caseload
Key Skills & Experience
  • Qualified lawyer with relevant UK law experience from a City law firm.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • An ability to build relationships with the clients, witnesses, counsel and experts
  • Enthusiastic team player with a commitment to quality and client care
  • Excellent case management skills
  • Strong academics essential
