The department

The Fox Williams Marketing & Business Development team comprises the Marketing and Business Development Director supported by the Senior Marketing & Business Development Manager, this role (Marketing & Events Executive) and the Marketing & Business Development Coordinator.

Our Marketing and Events Executive role is vital in providing hands-on support to the business in a small, busy team which is committed to delivering targeted marketing and proactive business development support to enhance the firm’s quality-led brand. Fox Williams is an ambitious firm, seeking entry into the legal Top 100, and everyone in the team has the opportunity to help this happen.

The opportunity

The overall purpose of the role will be to support the Marketing & Business Development Director and Senior Marketing and Business Development Manager in the day to day execution of Marketing and Business Development initiatives that help to deliver the firm’s business objectives.

Responsibility for the development and successful and effective delivery of events is a core aspect of this role. The successful candidate will use his / her skill set and experience to drive through marketing and business development projects, incorporating events, that grow the business and help develop the firm’s quality client-base, reputation and market profile. The role is extremely varied and will suit a hands-on individual able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

CRM and marketing systems

  • Maintaining and developing the integrity of the Contact Relationship Management System – OnePlace

  • Being an 'expert user on 'Vuture' - the CRM integrated, web based marketing technology platform

  • Reporting on data for the firm’s events in collaboration with the Marketing & BD Coordinator, and communications such as newsletters/e-alerts

  • Helping to guide the firm’s administrators on data entry and data integrity.

    Business development

  • Using reporting from the above to help Partners identify business opportunities, and assist with their follow up

    Seminars and Events

  • Work with partners and associates on the end-to-end execution of events including seminars, drinks receptions and corporate hospitality on time and within budget

  • Develop invitation lists, coordinate speakers, email invitations and reminders to the guest list and co-ordinate responses, prepare documentation and manage event communications

  • On site venue management on the day, coordinating set up of furniture and equipment, greet guests, co-ordinate with Reception colleagues and external waiting staff. Be able to work outside office hours as required in order to support events (including breakfast meetings and evening events).

  • Analyse and report on delegate feedback

  • Venue research, draft basic budgets and work with external suppliers as required

    Online and publications

  • Publish and edit news articles, news, staff profiles and other content on the firm’s websites using content management systems

  • Work with partners and associates to draft compelling content as required

  • Work collaboratively within the marketing and BD team in the production of marketing collateral required for a range of purposes, including working on pitches if required.

    Legal directories, together with the Marketing & BD Coordinator

  • Working with department and sector group heads, coordinate the firm’s legal directory submissions and update the office and partner profiles

  • Coordinate interviews and follow-up as necessary

  • Produce rankings analysis of results

  • Excellent IT skills.

  • Familiar with content management systems for updating websites

  • Familiar with online email marketing systems

  • Excellent writing and proof reading skills with strong attention to detail

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (especially ability to network with and to be clear, concise and influential with partners and senior associates)

  • Eye for design and quality control in respect of presentations and other promotional material

  • Good organisational skills - able to juggle multiple priorities and remain effective under pressure, especially when dealing with urgent requests

  • Good social media skills and an awareness of their possible application in a business context

    Qualifications, self development & professional education

  • Graduate (2:1 or above), pursuing or having attained further professional CIM qualifications

  • At least two years’ experience in a marketing role, ideally within a partnership environment

  • Excellent IT skills and willing to coach others

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Able to work on own initiative and also work as part of a team

  • Able to work outside office hours as required in order to support events (including breakfast meetings and evening events)

  • Self motivated, optimistic and enthusiastic

  • Able to identify areas for personal development and improvement.
